The understanding and control of interactions between cells and material surfaces are of outermost importance, e.g., for the development of medical implants, biosensors, and biochips. Biointerfaces are micro- and nanostructured, biofunctionalized material surfaces directing molecular and cellular functions. The expertise of chemistry, biology, biophysics, medicine and analytics has to be accomplished to create such intelligent surfaces. ITMC is the co-ordinator of the interdisciplinary DFG Research Training Group “Biointerface”. The Colloquium puts this co-operation of the euregional triangle Germany – Belgium – The Netherlands into a broader context. Internationally acknowledged experts will report on their latest results.
